The West African College of Surgeons (WACS) is partnering with Kebbi State Government through the Ministry of Health to provide free surgical outreach to patients in Kebbi State.
The State Commissioner for Health, Jafar Muhammed has said on Monday.
According to him , the free surgical outreach targetting 200 patients across the state was facilitated by Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu who made tremendous efforts in bringing the surgeons to Kebbi.
He said intially Kebbi State was not part of the selected states for the outreach program but due to the effort of the wife of the state governor, Dr.Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, the surgeons agreed.
The Commissioner also commended the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for supporting the outreach, describing it as pure love for he has for the healthy wellbeing of people Kebbi State.
He further said that already, patients have screened at various hospitals in their localities before coming to Kebbi Medical Center in Kalgo , the center for the outreach.
According to him also, so far 45 consultant surgeons were on ground on various medical fields supported by 65 nurses and supporting staff .
He advised patients to be orderly and follow schedule plan according to their local government areas as planned.
Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Governor, his excellency Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu had visited patients at the ongoing medical outreach at the Kebbi Medical Center Kalgo to sympathise with them.
The governor went round the various wards in the hospital including theater and pediatric to wish the patients quick recovery.
He also commended the doctors and nurses including the supporting staff involved in the program for their service to humanity.
